Staff and dashboard access

A tournament is easier to run with more people. Here you find who can enter your server dashboard, how to let your staff in with a Discord role, and what stays reserved to the server owner.

1. Who can enter the dashboard

You log in to dashboard.nemixbot.com with your own Discord account. A server shows up only if the NEMIX bot is in it and you are one of these people:

  • The owner of the Discord server.
  • Administrators: anyone with the Administrator or Manage Server permission on Discord.
  • Your staff: anyone with the NEMIX Staff role on the server.

Access follows Discord. If you take the role or the permission away from someone, or they leave the server, they lose access on their own, with nothing else for you to do: right away for the NEMIX Staff role, within a few minutes for Discord permissions.

Note

In your account menu, at the top, you see the role you entered that server with: Server owner, Administrator or NEMIX Staff. People who already had access before keep it and can be removed from the Staff page: the owner and the server administrators can do it.

2. How to give your staff access

Your staff do not need administrator permissions on Discord: the NEMIX Staff role is enough. NEMIX creates it when it joins the server, and it grants no permissions on Discord: it only says who your staff are.

  1. 1On Discord open your server: Server settings → Roles.
  2. 2Find the NEMIX Staff role → Manage members → add the person.
  3. 3The person logs in to dashboard.nemixbot.com with Discord and finds the server in the selector at the top.
  4. 4To remove access, remove the role: it is lost right away.

Anyone with the NEMIX Staff role runs the tournament from the dashboard, sees the NEMIX channels on Discord and can use the staff commands.

From the dashboard

The Staff page (Server group of the menu) shows who has the NEMIX Staff role today, with the Refresh button, and repeats the steps in the How to give access box. If the role is missing, the page tells you and explains how to fix it: on Discord the NEMIX bot role must have Manage Roles and sit above the roles it has to manage.

3. What stays with the owner only

Administrators and staff run the tournament just like you: settings, teams, lobbies, matches, messages, leaderboard and stream. Money, however, stays with the owner of the Discord server:

  • connecting or disconnecting the Stripe account, with Connect with Stripe on the Payments page;
  • the entry fee and the prizes, in Tournament → Entry and prizes and when creating the tournament;
  • refunds, single ones or with Cancel tournament + refund all.

For everyone else these buttons stay visible but disabled, with the reason below: «Only the server owner can do this». Even with an expired license the owner still sees Payments, so refunds are always possible.

Fees, earnings and refunds: Paid tournaments and entry fee.

4. Several servers: the selector and Reload servers from Discord

If you manage several servers, you find them all in the selector at the top: pick the server and then the tournament. At the bottom of the list there are Create new tournament, Reload servers from Discord and All tournaments.

The server list comes from Discord when you log in. If you have just added the bot to a server, or you were just given a permission, and the server does not show up, press Reload servers from Discord: it logs you in with Discord again and refreshes the list.

Heads up

If the NEMIX bot is removed from a server, that server no longer shows up in the dashboard until you put it back. Invite it again and then reload the servers.

5. !addstaff does not give dashboard access

!addstaff is for the bot commands: it adds a Discord role to the tournament staff, so anyone with that role can use the staff commands. It does not open the dashboard. To let someone into the dashboard you need the NEMIX Staff role (section 2).

!addstaff<nome ruolo>Admin

Adds a Discord role to the tournament command staff. It does not give dashboard access.

Frequently asked questions

Do my staff need to be administrators on Discord?

No. The NEMIX Staff role is enough, and it grants no permissions on Discord: it only lets them into the dashboard and lets them use the staff commands.

How do I remove someone’s access?

On Discord, remove their NEMIX Staff role, or their Administrator or Manage Server permission. They lose access on their own. People who already had access before are removed from the Staff page, with the Remove button.

Can a staff member issue a refund?

No. Entry fee, prizes, payments and refunds belong to the Discord server owner only. Staff see the button disabled, with the reason.

I gave the role but the person cannot see the server.

Check that they log in with the same Discord account that has the role and that the NEMIX bot is in the server. On the Staff page press Refresh: if their name shows up, they just need to reload the dashboard.
