Paid tournaments and entry fee

The entry fee is not tied to a mode: you can charge it on a Battle Royale, a Resurgence, a Matchpoint or a Wager, in the same way. Only the game format changes. Here is how collection is set up, who receives the money and what happens if the tournament falls through.

Note

The entry fee is optional and cross-mode: every mode can also be run completely free. Enabling payments is a separate choice from the mode you picked.

Who collects the fees

Fees are destined to your own Stripe account, the one you connect to the server. NEMIX does not hold the prize pool and does not pay prizes to winners: the money is destined to you, and you redistribute it according to the rules you announced.

  1. 1You connect your own Stripe account to the server from the dashboard.
  2. 2You set the entry fee on the tournament.
  3. 3Whoever registers pays by card through Stripe: the amount is destined to your account.
  4. 4At the end of the tournament you distribute the prizes yourself, from your account.

Heads up

Without a Stripe account connected to the server the fee cannot be collected: the payment does not start and NEMIX says so. Connect it before opening registrations.

The commission

On every fee collected through Stripe, NEMIX applies a 5% commission on the transaction amount. The rest is destined to your account. It applies on any mode: the commission depends on the tournament being paid, not on how it is played.

Fee per team5% commissionTo your account
€5,00€0,25€4,75
€10,00€0,50€9,50
€25,00€1,25€23,75

On top of these amounts Stripe separately applies its own processing fees, according to your account agreement.

Note

If you refund a registration, the commission is returned as well: the participant gets back the full amount they paid.

How participants pay

Whoever registers requests the payment link from their own ticket and pays by card. The payment status stays on the team record, so you always see who is settled.

!paga[metodo]Everyone

Generates the payment link for the fee. It must be typed inside the team own ticket.

!pagamentiAdmin

Lists the payments recorded on the current tournament.

Aliases: !payments · !transazioni

!approvapagamento"<nome team>"Admin

Manually marks a team as paid, for cases handled outside the automatic flow.

Aliases: !approvapag · !approve_payment

Heads up

Besides Stripe you can provide a PayPal contact: in that case the link is just a pointer, the payment is not verified automatically and you have to confirm it yourself with !approvapagamento. The NEMIX commission applies only to Stripe collections.

Prize pool and distribution

On Wager tournaments you can define how the prize pool is split across final placements, together with a minimum number of teams below which the tournament does not start.

  • Who pays: the captain for the whole team, or each player individually.
  • Minimum teams: below the threshold the tournament is cancelled and fees are refunded.
  • Prize split: how much goes to each placement. Percentages must add up to 100%.

Heads up

At the end of the tournament NEMIX calculates the amounts per placement and presents them to you, but you execute the payment to the winners from your own account: the bot does not send money. After paying, you confirm in the dashboard that the payout was made.

Refunds and cancellation

  • Refund of a single registration, with the reason recorded.
  • Refund of all registrations, when the tournament is cancelled.
  • Automatic cancellation if the minimum number of teams is not reached.
  • The refund returns the NEMIX commission as well.

Before opening registrations

Four things to settle and announce. They are the points every dispute comes from.

  1. 1How much is paid and who pays: captain or individual player.
  2. 2How the prize pool is split across placements.
  3. 3How many teams are needed for the tournament to go ahead.
  4. 4By when and in which cases refunds happen.

Heads up

Running tournaments with entry fees and cash prizes may be subject to tax and regulatory rules that differ by country. NEMIX provides the collection and calculation tools: your event compliance remains your responsibility.
